The Small Shop LA’s Usability testing
Introduction:
Hi, Thank you for agreeing to participate in this test today. We’re working on the redesign of a closing website and would love to get some insights about it.
Instructions:
First, please remember that we’re testing the website not you. Don’t worry at all about mistakes. If they happen, it’s totally fine.
During the whole test, please try to think out loud. Share anything that’s in your head. Tell me what you are looking at on the screen, what your thoughts are, what you like and what don’t you like, et cetera. We want to learn about your honest reactions to the app.
Do you have any questions so far?
Recording & Data Privacy
The reason for today’s session is to test the prototype to see whether the design is user friendly and easy to use. We will need to record this session to get back to it in case we miss any points. All recordings will be deleted once we are done with the analysis. In case we use quotes from today’s session, they will be anonymized as well. Is that okay with you?
Before we start I just wanted to let you know to:
- I’ll lay out some tasks for you, with some follow up questions, but I’ll also remain silent at some points just to watch how you use the app by yourself, but feel free to voice your thoughts and the steps you’re taking as it helps to understand how you’re interpreting the screen better.
Sound good? Great, so let’s get started.
Goals:
To find out if the users are able to complete the tasks without difficulties
To improve user experience and ensure that the website accurately reflects their needs

Findings
Based on the results from the usability testing, it looks like overall the participants were able to complete the tasks without big issues. The observations and feedback received from the participant showed that some part of the website could be improved to provide a better experience.
Below are the main issues that need to be addressed in order to create a better experience for the users.
Reorganize the categories so that products are easier to find
Give the option to have an account
Include more size options on the website
Make the images the same size on the home page and the product detail page
Use a pop up window after the user adds something to their cart
Add a product background page or pop up so users know more about the products
Add reviews on the product details page
Add a size guide on the product detail page so it’s easier for people to find the right size
